All that you are and everything that you do stands or falls on what or who you find or place your identity in. We live in a world that places value on us based on our labels - fame, status, beauty and appearance, success, career, accomplishments - it is far too easy to feel like we don't measure up to society's standards of what is successful, popular or valuable.
It is essential for us to remember that our identity does not come from what we do but by who we are IN CHRIST. There is no need for us to try to measure up to the standards of the world because we will pale in comparison -Christ has paid the ultimate price for us in full. It is CHRIST IN US, the Hope of glory.
Let us pray:
Lord God, thank You that Your Word says I am Your child adopted into Your family as a son / daughter through Jesus Christ (John 1:12).
Thank You that You have fearfully and wonderfully made me (Psalm 139:14), I am Your masterpiece created for good works which You prepared for me long ago (Ephesians 2:10).
Thank You that I am redeemed and forgiven (Ephesians 1:7) by the blood of Your perfect and sinless Son, Jesus Christ, and that You chose me in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in your sight (Ephesians 1:4-5).
Thank You that I am chosen, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Your prized possession (1 Peter 2:9).
Thank You that I am a new creation because I am in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Thank You that I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me and my life is hidden with Him (Galatians 2:20, Colossians 3:3).
What an honourable calling You give us, may I live in and by these truths day by day. Help me to combat the lies of the enemy and of this world and to be secure and confident in this very identity you give me. I can be secure because I am more than a conqueror through You who loved me (Romans 8:37). By the power of Your Holy Spirit, empower and embolden me to walk in these truths and to let my identity find its place in You, Lord.
